We realise that sometimes dental emergencies don’t always happen at the best time. Life is busy and often unexpected bills can make life stressful. At Dental Care West, we will work with you to help find a solution. We have done this for many years and its one of the reasons why we have a great name in the community. If you wish to pay your treatment off over time, we can offer you three options: QCard, ZIP, or our own in-house finance plan.

Q Card allows you to pay off your dental treatment over time. With Q Card you can spread the cost over 12 months interest free, or choose longer repayment terms with very competitive interest rates. 

Our in-house payment plans offer patients to pay off their treatment when bills are over $500. We have rules to help sort out how much deposit is required and how many months the cost can be spread over. A general rule of thumb is a 50% deposit and monthly payments over 3-6 months. There is no interest charged but there is a small monthly administration fee while its being paid off.

Paying off your Treatment

At Dental Care West we lead the way with helping make orthodontic treatment affordable. Not only do we have incredibly sharp fees and offer all-inclusive plans with no hidden extras, we let our patients pay the treatment off. Since you don’t get straight teeth immediately, we think a payment plan makes sense.

We've made financing orthodontics easy and affordable. You can either pay for treatment up-front in one payment and receive a small discount, or pay the treatment off interest-free over a period of time. 

For example, let's look at a $7000 two-year orthodontic treatment plan:
- Option 1: Payment up-front at a 5% discount would be $6650.
- Option 2: Payment over a two-year treatment period would require a deposit of $1500 then $250 per month (or $62.50 per week) for 24 months by direct debit. 

We'll discuss costs and payment plans for your needs at your initial consultation. 

Orthodontic Payment Plans

Dental Care West is proud to offer Southern Cross Easy-claim. This enables Southern Cross members to claim on dental services approved within their insurance policy at the time of their appointment. Remember to bring your Southern Cross membership card, app or membership number with you to your appointment and present it to us at the time of payment. Dental treatments eligible under your insurance plan will be paid for directly by Southern Cross health insurance – no need to complete a claim form or wait for reimbursement. It’s that easy! 

Some policies cover 100% of your dental bill up to a limit, while some policies cover a percentage. If you would like to know more prior to your visit, please contact Southern Cross to find out more about your specific policy. Our helpful reception staff can assist you via the Easy-claim website to help see what you are entitled to or have left for each claim year.

Southern Cross Easy Claim

Dental Care West is proud to be an ACC Registered Provider. We offer emergency dental services and are conveniently open 6 days a week with extended opening hours. We have been working with ACC since it began in 1974 so we are used to helping you.

If you’ve had an accident and damage your teeth or gums, your treatment fees may be contributed to by ACC. At Dental Care West we don’t charge any co-payments for children under the age of 18, we cover that for them. For people over the age of 18 there are often co-payments required to fill the gap between the cost of your dental care and what ACC cover (it’s a bit like the physio). We are able to quote you before we start any treatment so you are aware of these costs. For more substantial treatment, we write to ACC to request approval of what fees they will cover so that our dental team and our patients know what these co-payments are before anything begins.

If you suspect any damage to your teeth or the surrounding tissue, don’t wait! The sooner it is assessed, the greater the chance we can help save your teeth. Call us straight away on 09 818 8855 so we can examine the injury and get everything stabilised.

Even if you don’t see any damage to the teeth, it’s best to come in and see us anyway so that we can register the accident with ACC. This will assist with any claims that you might make in the future if a problem does develop.

ACC Treatment

At Dental Care West, we are proud to partner with the Ministry of Health in providing thorough dental care for teens from Year 9 at school, until they turn 18 years old.

We’ve been looking after our patients for over 50 years, and many of our patients started as teenagers and keep coming back year after year. As their families grow, we keep expanding to offer our suburb care to everyone.

Teenagers are expensive, but we are lucky in New Zealand that the government helps fund keeping their teeth and mouths healthy. Its important that they get a great start with their oral health, so that the years following that are as easy as they can be.

Our free basic dental services not only ensure your teen’s teeth are clean and healthy, but just as importantly we teach them how to look after their teeth and gums at home. Establishing good habits in these teenage years can make all the difference to maintaining great smiles in adulthood.

As part of New Zealand’s free dental care scheme, your teen is entitled to one free dental examination per year. If you notice a problem between visits, such as a tooth ache, you can make additional dental appointments free of charge.

Our free dental services for teens include:
- Annual dental check-ups
- Teeth cleaning and polishing
- Dental x-rays
- Fillings
- Preventative treatments including fissure sealants or fluoride treatment
- Tooth extractions (non-orthodontic)
- Root canals and crowns

Orthodontic treatments such as braces and other teeth alignment treatments are also not included under the free dental care for teens but we offer free of charge orthodontic consultation and x-rays to you find out more if you are interested.

Dental Care West is proud to have looked after the community for over 50 years. In that time we have always led the way in trying to make dentistry more accessible for everyone. We work very hard to make dental care affordable, so everyone can have the beautiful, healthy smile they deserve. 

Most of our patients choose to pay as they go, simply paying each bill at each visit. We accept EFTPOS, cash, and most major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, QCard and ZIP.
